How I Made Over $9209.79 in October with Amazon KDP
Hi everyone!
I know it’s been a while since I posted a newsletter, It’s been a super busy period but I’ve got some time off in December to start creating more content over this month.
In the meantime, you can read some of my older newsletter which should be open for everyone to read.
I wanted to start off by sharing my income for October by selling books on Amazon KDP. One of the best ways to make money online.
My Earnings
In October, I made $9,209.79, which is the most I've ever made in a month!
The started of inconsistent with several highs and lows. My best day was October 4th when I made $529.18,
and my lowest day was just before that when I made $99.75.
From the middle until the end of the month my earnings began to even out and become more consistent and with over $400 on the final day of October.
Selling More Books
I sold 2,196 books in October. When I worked out how much money I made from each book, it was about $4.19 per book.
This is because I decided to stop accepting low royalties for my books. I make sure my books are unique, have high quality content, reviews and the best in the niche which allows me to charge more money for each one.
Comparing to Last Year
Last October, I made a lot less—$3,266.04, to be exact.
I also sold fewer books, 1,721.
I love to see this type of growth in my business which shows I’m heading in the right direction. It's always important to have the right perspective and stay focused on year on year growth rather than get lost in the daily or monthly grind.
Improving My Books
I focused this month on making my older books better instead of creating new ones. I improved the covers, added A+ content and increased the prices. I also tried new ways of advertising, which helped me sell more.
Challenges
I had some problems with my ads, especially in European markets.
For about a week, my ads didn't spend over $4 in places like the UK and Germany. There was no word from Amazon about the issue and finally after 7 days I reached out to Amazon and got this response.
This was frustrating as I would have made a higher income, but I was glad the issue finally got sorted.
Expenses
Making money isn't just about what you earn but also what you spend.
My main expenses for the business include Amazon ads and several tools.
I spent $2086.22 on ads across several marketplaces and about $100 on tools like Canva, Bookbeam and others.
Final Numbers
After all my expenses, my net income for October is $7,023.57 which I'm really happy about.
It's amazing to see how much my business has grown.
This has been the one business I’ve stuck with for several years and it’s really paying off.
I'm planning to keep developing my skills and create more high-content books and audiobooks next year.
