How I Made $26,257.92 in December with Amazon KDP

December is a golden month for publishers on Amazon, and this year, it did not disappoint.

The holiday season is a time when sales skyrocket across industries, and books are no exception.

This month was a record-breaking month earning over $26,000 with my Amazon business showing how much you can achieve.

I’ve been self-publishing for 4 years, and in the beginning, I tried everything to succeed. Unfortunately, I followed bad advice and ended up wasting time and money.

Things finally started to change in 2023. I began creating fewer books, spent more time on research, made sure my covers looked amazing, and learned how to run ads the right way.

I share my income reports not to show off, but to inspire you and show what’s possible when you follow the right advice.

It still feels unreal that I made $1,416.95 in a single day and had many days where I earned over $1,000. It goes to show what can happen when you focus on quality and smart strategies!

This month had many other highs including a new record of book orders selling 6546.

I earned on average $4.01 per book which is higher than November. I always advise everyone to price your books higher if it is quality and provides value.

Higher prices will not only give you more royalties but also signifies quality and gives you more margin when advertising.

My top 3 best-selling books include 2 activity books and a story book for kids.

How This Compares to December 2023

Looking back at December 2023, I earned $7305.72 that month.

A 259.42% increase in royalties from last year proves how my efforts have compounded in 1 year.

Nothing can stop you from achieving these results, but it does take time, effort, and persistence.

If you keep going and stay focused, the rewards will come. Surround yourself with positive people and good advice, and you’ll get there!

Expenses

My earnings are not all profit but I do have some expenses. Mainly amazon ads.

In December, I spent $6,281.11 on ads across multiple markets.

I like to diversify my ads in different marketplaces so I can build a steady income throughout the year.

This ad spend was my highest of the year, but it was worth it because my ads were very profitable, bringing in $26,257.92 in sales. My ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sales) was 25.19%, which is much lower than it was in October and November.

This was thanks to the high demand during the holiday season and the adjustments I made to improve my ads.

Spending this much wasn’t easy, but it made sense for where I am in my KDP journey.

I’ve always spent within my budget, even when I was starting out, and you can see all my old income reports on my YouTube channel to understand how I’ve grown over time.

Final Numbers

I earned $26,257.92 in total sales.

My expenses included $6,281.11 for ads and $100 for tools and software, which brought my net profit to $19,876.81.

This was a record-breaking month for me, and I’m so excited about what’s ahead for this year and next December.

I’m aiming to break even more records!

Here are my two biggest lessons from this amazing month:

1. December is a huge opportunity for sales if you create books that make great gifts.

2. Ads will be very profitable if you focus on the right niches and price your books higher.
